Altitude sickness

Image

There is always an element of apprehension when taking a lift up to a pub. Will we get nose bleeds? Or headaches? Or altitude sickness?

But we survived yet another ascension to the lofty heights of Farrell’s pub.  And on the way down (tonight’s shot), the apprehension had turned into giddiness.

In the meantime we discussed the dangers of the privatisation of water, the disappearance of flight MH370, the barely noticed abduction of 276 girls in Nigeria, the 1989 Chernobyl disaster, Reagan’s America in the 80s and the Amoco Cadiz. Then we realised that the conversation could not be monopolised by frivolous topics and we momentarily broached a much darker subject: the Eurovision 2014 semi-finals.
